Birmingham, AL – Gov. Bob Riley and State Superintendent Joe Morton are planning to visit a Birmingham middle school to talk about the Alabama Reading Initiative.
Tuesday's visit will take place at Inglenook Middle School, which is one of 29 middle schools that has the acclaimed reading program in the state.
Riley and Morton are planning to discuss the importance of expanding ARI to other middle schools. The program has helped to improve reading scores and grades in the schools that have it and is now in all grades K3.
The governor and superintendent will visit classrooms and have a round-table discussion with several students and their teachers about how the initiative has helped them in school.
