Montgomery, AL – A U.S. Supreme Court ruling in a West Virginia case is being reviewed for any possible impact on Alabama's costly judicial elections.
The 5-4 decision Monday held that a West Virginia justice should have recused himself from a case involving a company run by a man who gave $3 million to his campaign.
Critics of Alabama's expensive partisan judicial elections said the ruling is a signal that it's time to get money out of court races.
But other political experts said it's difficult to trace where campaign money came from in Alabama and the ruling may have little if any impact.
