Alabama's Largest Schools To Hike Tuition Again

Birmingham, AL – Alabama's largest universities are considering still more tuition hikes even though many students and families are struggling in hard times.

Tuition would rise 9.4 percent for the typical undergraduate at the University of Alabama, UAB and UAH under a plan being considered by the UA System trustees.

Rates for the typical student at Auburn University would increase 6.1 percent under a plan being considered there.

Such increases would bring the cost of a semester's worth of undergraduate tuition for an Alabama resident taking 15 hours of classes at UA to $3,500. Tuition for a similar student would total $3,148 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, $3,255 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and $3,120 at Auburn University.
