Chapman Won't Enter Attorney General Race

Evergreen, AL – Tommy Chapman, a southwest Alabama prosecutor, says he will stay out of the race for the Democratic nomination for attorney general and continue to serve in his current job and continue his battle against cancer.

Chapman said he had been asked to run for attorney general by other district attorneys at a Birmingham conference, telling him the office needed someone with experience as a prosecutor.

Chapman says he is undergoing radiation treatment for prostate cancer and the side effects would prevent a vigorous statewide campaign.

Chapman was among several potential Democratic candidates considering a run next year to challenge Attorney General Troy King.
