Montgomery, AL – Gov. Bob Riley has set the dates for special elections to fill state House District 65 in southwest Alabama.
Riley said Tuesday the qualifying deadline for candidates will be July 31. The party primaries will be Sept. 15. If runoffs are needed, they will be held Nov. 3 and the general election will be Dec. 15. If there are no runoff, the general election will be Nov. 3.
The winner will replace Democrat Marc Keahey of Grove Hill, who gave up the seat when he was elected to the state Senate.
District 65 covers Choctaw, Clarke and Washington counties.
