Vance, AL – Employees at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Alabama are again cutting back to a four-day work week.
The factory slashed production and reduced hours last year as the economy slowed and auto sales dropped. It went back to a five-day work week briefly, but now it's cutting back to four days again.
A spokeswoman for the Tuscaloosa County plant, Felyicia Jerald, said the reduction will prevent the factory from making more vehicles than it can sell. No layoffs are planned.
The plant in Vance employs about 3,000 people.
