Birmingham, AL – The state Department of Public Safety is urging Jefferson County residents to go to other counties for driver's license services because four county satellite offices are closing Friday.
DPS Director Col. Chris Murphy said the department serves about 500 people daily at its driver's license offices in the satellite courthouse at Homewood, Center Point, Forestdale and Gardendale.
The service will still be available at Birmingham's main courthouse downtown, the Bessemer courthouse and at the state trooper post on Arkadelphia Road.
Murphy said his department will work to accommodate applicants at area offices and surrounding counties, but cautioned that driver's license applicants may experience service delays.
