Riley Celebrates 1st Year Of Ala. KidCheck Program

Montgomery, AL – A program that provides free health care screenings to children in grades K-12 has reached its one-year anniversary and Gov. Bob Riley was on hand to celebrate.

Riley celebrated the progress of the KidCheck program during an event at the State Capitol Tuesday morning. He announced the creation of KidCheck last year.

So far 17,000 Alabama students have received screenings through the program, which is designed to increase access to health care in rural parts of the state.

Schools partner with local college nursing programs and organizations from across Alabama to administer the screenings. Equipment and supplies that are needed are donated or borrowed from hospitals and health agencies.
