Montgomery, AL – Alabama health and education officials plan to offer free, voluntary swine flu vaccinations for students and staff at public schools in preparation for the upcoming influenza season.
More details will be provided later, but students will need written permission to get the shots.
At a briefing in Montgomery Friday, the state school and health officials also said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now recommends that students and staff stricken with swine flu be allowed to return to school 24 hours after a fever is gone.
The advice is a change from previous recommendations that people with swine flu stay home for a week.
