Troy University gets Federal Funds to Fight Computer Crime

By Associated Press

Troy, AL – Troy University is getting $350,000 in federal funding to fight cybercrime.

Republican Sen. Richard Shelby of Tuscaloosa worked to get the federal appropriation for Troy's Computer Forensics Institute and Lab.

Shelby said Tuesday the university will use the funding to enhance awareness of cybercrime techniques, providing training on computer forensics and electronic security systems, and develop a lab for examining cybercrimes.

Shelby is the ranking member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science.
