Montgomery, AL – Former state Conservation Commissioner Charley Grimsley says he's considering running for state treasurer as a Democrat next year.
Grimsley said Friday he's talking to people around the state and will make a decision soon.
Grimsley is a retired banker who served as conservation commissioner during Gov. Jim Folsom's administration. While commissioner, he got the Legislature to pass Alabama's boating safety law. He was later chief of staff for Lt. Gov. Steve Windom and then chief of staff for state Sen. Hinton Mitchem when he was president pro tem of the Senate.
Grimsley says his knowledge of the legislative process would serve him well if elected state treasurer.
