Legislator Questions $13 Million Computer Contract

Montgomery, AL – A company in line to receive up to $13 million from a contract to monitor Alabama's stimulus spending and to upgrade state government's computer system has its headquarters in a house in Virginia.

The company has no apparent listed phone number or Web page.

A legislator, Democratic Rep. Alvin Holmes of Montgomery, is asking Gov. Bob Riley not to sign the contract. Holmes says he will ask the oversight committee he chairs to subpoena records to determine who has gotten paid from the contract with Paragon Source LLC.

The governor's communications director, Jeff Emerson, said he expects Riley will sign it. He said the governor's legal advisers have found no problems with the contract.
