FBI Report: Huntsville Has State's Lowest Murder Rate

Huntsville, AL – The FBI's annual report on crime shows that Huntsville boasts the lowest murder rate and one of the lowest rates of property crime among the state's four largest cities.

According to the report released Monday, Huntsville recorded 18 murders in 2007, putting the city's murder rate at 10.4 per 100,000 residents. Birmingham had the highest rate, with 36 murders per 100,000 residents. Mobile had 22 murders and Montgomery had 11.3 per 100,000 people.
