Montgomery, AL – A legislator who oversees state contracts has asked for detailed information on a company in line for nearly $13 million in state computer work even though it has no business phone listing or Web site.
State Rep. Alvin Holmes, D-Montgomery, sent the request Tuesday to Acting State Finance Director Bill Newton concerning Paragon Source LLC.
Holmes, who heads the Legislature's Contract Review Committee, asked Newton to provide the name, address and nature of work being performed by each Paragon Source employee under the state contract. He also requested the amount paid the company prior to September 2007, when Holmes said it was paid through Auburn University Montgomery.
His committee has put a hold on the latest contract and set an Oct. 7 hearing to gather more information.
