Leroy, AL – Flooding is predicted in southwest Alabama after days of heavy rains to the north.
The weather service says the Tombigbee River is expected to reach flood levels by early Thursday near Leroy, covering farms and pasturelands with water. The water is expected to continue rising through Friday evening.
The river is expected to reach 5 feet above flood stage near Coffeeville by Friday morning.
The water is coming from the heavy rains that inundated central Alabama this week, causing flash flooding in several counties. The state is checking for flood damage in eight counties before deciding whether assistance is needed.
