Former Conservation Boss To Run For State Treasurer

Montgomery, AL – Former state Conservation Commissioner Charley Grimsley says he will run for state treasurer next year as a Democrat.

Grimsley joins Birmingham attorney Jeremy Sherer in the Democratic primary in June.

Grimsley is making his first bid for statewide office, but he's been involved in state politics for years. He served as conservation commissioner under Democratic Gov. Jim Folsom Jr., as chief of staff for Republican Lt. Gov. Steve Windom, and as chief of staff for Democratic state Sen. Hinton Mitchem when he was president pro tem of the Senate.
