Educators From Surrounding States Studying Ala.

Montgomery, AL – Education officials from surrounding states are in Alabama to study acclaimed programs that are offered here.

Department of education staff from West Virginia, North Carolina, Kansas and Louisiana came to Alabama this week to observe effective literacy practices in use.

The Alabama Reading Initiative continues to attract attention and has been noted by many national organizations as a model.

School leaders are convening in Birmingham from Wednesday through Friday. They will also make school visits to Aliceville High School and Hayden Middle School to see adolescent literacy programs in action.

The event is sponsored by the American Youth Policy Forum.
