Mobile, AL – A University of Alabama alumnus who has been working for the U.S. House ethics committee is the new U.S. attorney for southwest Alabama.
The Senate on Saturday approved the nomination of 40-year-old Kenyen Brown. The Detroit native served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Mobile office from 1996 to 1999.
Brown will oversee criminal and civil cases in a 13-county area. The job has been vacant since Deborah Rhodes resigned in April.
In response to a Senate questionnaire, Brown noted his work on drug prosecutions during his earlier tenure in the U.S. attorney's office.
