North Ala. Under Flood Warning After Heavy Rains

Huntsville, AL – Much of Alabama's Tennessee Valley region is under a flood warning after heavy rains swelled rivers above their banks.

The National Weather Service said the Paint Rock River was more than a foot above flood level near Woodville on Friday morning, sending water into low-lying farms and pasturelands.

Forecasters say the Tennessee River is above flood stage at Florence, and the water should keep rising through Saturday. But it shouldn't be a problem for the NCAA Division II championship game at the city's football stadium.

Despite the recent rains and the flooding threat in extreme north Alabama, the weather service says most of the northern half of the state faces the possibility of wildfires because of low humidity.
