Montgomery, AL – The possible sale of the state's mental health hospital in Tuscaloosa will be discussed in a special meeting of the Department of Mental Health Advisory Board of Trustees.
Gov. Bob Riley's communications director, Jeff Emerson, told The Tuscaloosa News the purpose of the meeting Wednesday in the governor's office is to discuss Bryce Hospital.
Riley serves as chairman of the mental health board.
A state bond commission headed by Riley voted last week to sell economic development bonds to help the mental health department sell Bryce and replace the hospital and its services.
The University of Alabama wants to buy most of the Bryce Hospital property from the state for future expansion.
