Montgomery, AL – A Montgomery judge has given a 20-day reprieve to Alabama legislators who work for the two-year college system and have been unable to attend the first few days of the 2010 session because of a state school board policy.
Montgomery County Circuit Judge Johnny Hardwick issued a temporary restraining order Friday blocking enforcement of the policy that requires legislators to use leave time when attending sessions of the Legislature.
Attorneys for legislators said several did not attend the opening sessions of the Legislature this week because they did not have leave time available.
Hardwick scheduled a hearing for Feb. 5 to consider making the order permanent.
