Montgomery, AL – State school board member Stephanie Bell of Montgomery says she's seriously considering a run for Congress.
Bell told the Montgomery Advertiser she is receiving encouragement to seek the District 2 seat held by Bobby Bright.
She would be the third Republican to enter that party's primary with the winner aiming for the Democratic freshman.
The other Republicans are businessman and Marine Corps veteran Rick Barber and Montgomery City Councilwoman Martha Roby.
Bell has served on the school board since 1995 and tells the paper in a Saturday story that she's been thinking about entering the race since March. She said she waited to talk about it until the board's search for a new two-year chancellor was complete.
Bell said she'll make a decision about running in the next two weeks.
