Montgomery, AL – State Treasurer Kay Ivey says she will conduct a ``people's audit'' of state government if she's elected governor.
The Republican candidate said Monday she would have all department and agency heads submit a thorough internal audit of areas under their authority. Then independent auditors will go over the information and look for ways to save tax dollars.
Ivey said people fear an audit by the government and the government should fear an audit by the people.
Ivey said she's got experience at cutting government because the number of employees in the state treasurer's office has gone down during her two terms.
