Mobile, AL – The prosecutor trying to shut down the state's largest gambling hall admits the owner gave him $100,000 in campaign contributions in 2006 to run for state attorney general.
Gambling task force Commander John Tyson Jr. initially said last week he didn't know of any contributions from gambling interests. But now he says he did ask for and receive $100,000 in contributions from VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor.
McGregor says that he gave Tyson $100,000, but Tyson wanted $150,000 for his Democratic campaign. The money was given through political action committees.
Tyson lost the 2006 election to Republican incumbent Troy King.
