Judge Could Consider Legality Of Ala. Gambling Task Force

Birmingham, AL – Opponents of the Governor's Task Force on Illegal Gambling are going to get to argue in court that the task force has no authority to raid casinos.

Circuit Judge Robert Vance of Birmingham said Thursday he wants legal arguments from both sides by Feb. 26 on whether he has jurisdiction to address additional issues arising from the task force's raid last March on the White Hall Entertainment Center. The judge also wants arguments on the legality of the creation of the governor's task force.

White Hall attorney Bobby Segall said it's an opportunity to get a decision on a legal point that has not been addressed by any other court.
