By Desiree Hunter and Kristin Hall, Associated Press

Huntsville, AL – Attempted murder charges have been added against the professor accused of shooting six colleagues during a faculty meeting at an Alabama university.

Amy Bishop was arrested soon after the shooting Friday and charged with capital murder. Jail records show she also has been charged with three counts of attempted murder. A jail employee says the new charges were added Sunday.

Authorities say she opened fire during the meeting University of Alabama in Huntsville, killing three and wounding three.

Investigators have declined to discuss a motive, but some who knew Bishop say she was dismayed about being denied tenure and the job security it affords in the academic world.
