Birmingham, AL – A former HealthSouth Corp. executive has been sentenced to five months in prison for his part in the accounting fraud that nearly sank the rehabilitation chain.
A federal judge sentenced Ken Livesay during a hearing in Birmingham on Tuesday. Livesay already has forfeited $750,000 to the government and paid a $10,000 fine.
Livesay was a vice president and assistant controller at HealthSouth. He admitted falsifying information that was used in financial statements filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
A judge sentenced Livesay three times previously, giving him probation each time. The government appealed each sentence as too light and won, and U.S. District Judge Karon Bowdre finally imposed prison time.
The 49-year-old Livesay must report to prison on April 6.
