Big Names Line Up for Statehouse Bingo Rallies

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – Opponents and proponents of electronic bingo casinos are planning back-to-back rallies at the Alabama Statehouse that will include some big names.

Gov. Bob Riley says he will be joining opponents at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday on the Statehouse steps.

Country Crossing is organizing a rally for proponents at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Spokesman Doug Rainer says participants will include country entertainers Tracy Lawrence, John Anderson and Darryl Worley.

The second rally starts at the same time the Alabama Senate will be convening. Legislation pending in the Senate would allow 10 electronic bingo casinos in Alabama, including Country Crossing.
