Mass. DA Seeks Inquest In 1986 Bishop Slaying Case

Canton, MA – A Massachusetts prosecutor is ordering an inquest into Amy Bishop's 1986 fatal shooting of her 18-year-old brother.

That killing was ruled an accident at the time. Bishop is accused of killing three faculty colleagues in a shooting Feb. 12 at the University of Alabama-Huntsville.

In announcing the inquest Thursday, Norfolk District Attorney William Keating revealed a new piece of evidence. Investigators recently examined a photo taken of Amy's bedroom after the 1986 slaying and enlarged it. They found a newspaper article that described a killing similar to her brother's.

Keating says the inquest would allow a judge to compel testimony from Bishop's parents, who have refused to talk with investigators. Bishop's mother was the only other witness to Seth Bishop's slaying.
