Mass. Trooper Satisfied with UAH Professor Probe

By Associated Press

Boston, MA – The Massachusetts state trooper who oversaw the 1986 investigation into Amy Bishop's role in her brother's shooting death says he closed the case without reviewing the reports and photos from local police.

The retired Brian Howe tells The Boston Globe he repeatedly asked Braintree police for their files on the case, but never got them. He says he eventually put his trust in what local police told him, that the shooting was accidental. He says he acted in a "professional manner."

Bishop is accused of fatally shooting three colleagues at the University of Alabama-Huntsville on Feb. 12 and injuring three others.

Judith Bishop, Amy Bishop's mother, said in an interview with the Boston Herald that she and her husband are "having an awfully hard time" with the Alabama case.
