Eutaw, AL – Gov. Bob Riley could determine the future of Greenetrack, the state's only major non-Indian casino that his gambling task force hasn't raided or tried to raid.
Riley is considering who to appoint as Greene County sheriff. The previous sheriff, Ison Thomas, died April 3.
The sheriff regulates the electronic bingo machines at Greenetrack in Eutaw, and Thomas had supported the electronic bingo hall, the county's biggest private employer. Riley contends electronic bingo machines are illegal.
About 200 people rallied at Greenetrack on Monday night to encourage Riley to let the casin continue to operate.
Riley says his staff interviewed some interested people last week, and he expects to pick a replacement soon.
