Ala. Gambling Task Force Chief Eyes Greene County

Eutaw, AL – The commander of Gov. Bob Riley's Task Force on Illegal Gambling says he plans to enforce the law in Greene County.

The task force chief, Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson Jr., is backed by a state Supreme Court ruling that rejects Attorney General Troy King's claim of control over the task force.

Tyson would not say on Monday how he would address compliance with gambling laws at the Greenetrack bingo casino near Eutaw.

Riley believes the electronic bingo machines are illegal slot machines, but county and Greenetrack officials say a local constitutional amendment authorizes electronic bingo because it mentions electronic machines.

Greenetrack is the only one of four major bingo casinos in the state that the task force has not raided or attempted to raid.
