Montgomery, AL – A federal grand jury investigating possible vote buying on electronic bingo legislation has heard from well-known Montgomery political consultant Joe Perkins, who's working on Ron Sparks' Democratic campaign for governor.
Sparks' opponent, U.S. Rep. Artur Davis, said there is no way the grand jury will finish its probe by Tuesday's primary election, and voters ought to be concerned what that could mean for the Democratic Party if Sparks is the nominee.
Perkins said Sparks' name was never mentioned during his 15-minute appearance before the grand jury Wednesday. He called Davis ``a despicable human being'' who will say anything to try to win the primary.
