Montgomery, AL – Gov. Bob Riley is helping the candidate trying to unseat the state attorney general whom Riley appointed in 2004.
Republican candidate Luther Strange is distributing a campaign brochure that includes endorsements from Riley, as well as Alabama's two Republican U.S. senators. Campaign spokeswoman Jessica Garrison says 100,000 copies of the flier are being mailed statewide before Tuesday's election.
In the flier, Riley says Strange would carry out the duties of attorney general with conviction and would be ``a great attorney general for Alabama.''
King was Riley's legal adviser before the governor appointed him to a vacancy in the attorney general's office in 2004. King was elected to a full term in 2006. They later had a falling out, with Riley accusing King of not enforcing gambling laws.
