Dothan, AL – A financial backer of an electronic bingo hall that was targeted by Alabama's governor wants a federal judge to protect it from further government interference.
A bondholder for the Country Crossing bingo hall near Dothan filed a motion in federal court Thursday seeking to prevent Gov. Bob Riley's Task Force On Illegal Gambling from stopping the bingo hall from operating.
The request was made by the Maryland-based Lord Abbett Municipal Income Fund, which holds about $5 million in bonds tied to the facility.
Country Crossing's gambling hall, restaurants and inn have been closed since late January to prevent a raid by that task force. A spokesman for Gov. Bob Riley said the governor's office had not seen the legal request.
