Montgomery, AL – The official tally from the Republican primary for governor shows Robert Bentley took second place over Tim James by 167 votes, but James is calling for a recount.
The Alabama Republican Party announced the official total, including provisional ballots, late Tuesday afternoon in Birmingham.
James announced at his Montgomery campaign headquarters that he wants a recount.
Bentley said he's preparing for a runoff July 13 with the first-place finisher, Bradley Byrne, and is reaching out to James' supporters.
