Ala. Supreme Court Won't Stop Parker Execution

Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Supreme Court has denied a request to stop the execution of death low inmate John Forrest Parker.

Parker is scheduled to die by lethal injection at Holman Prison in Atmore at 6 p.m. Thursday for the 1988 murder-for-hire killing of Elizabeth Dorlene Sennett in Colbert County. The Supreme Court voted 7-2 Wednesday to deny Parker's request for a stay.

The 42-year-old Parker had asked the court to stop the execution because the trial judge overrode the jury's recommended sentence of life in prison without parole.

The victim's sons, Mike Sennett of Cherokee and Charles Sennett of Sheffield, say they plan to witness the execution.
