GOP Launches Effort to Win State House, Senate

By Associated Press

Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Republican Party has officially kicked off its campaign to win control of the Alabama House and Senate for the first time in 136 years.

Alabama Republican chairman Mike Hubbard held a news conference in Montgomery Monday to unveil a campaign video and said the theme of legislative campaigns would be to stress bringing ethical conduct and accountability to the Legislature.

But Alabama Democratic chairman Joe Turnham responded with a statement saying the Republicans can expect a spirited challenge from Democrats in November.

Turnham said the Democratic Party has "outstanding candidates" who will fight to win in November.
