Ala. AG, Feinberg To Meet On Oil Spill Plan

Montgomery, AL – Alabama's attorney general will meet next week with the administrator of the Gulf oil spill compensation fund to express his concerns that the proposed compensation plan should be scrapped.

A spokesman for Attorney General Troy King says administrator Kenneth Feinberg asked for a meeting after King wrote a letter to the president Tuesday. King's letter complained that the federal government and BP had worked on nine drafts of the plan before contacting the attorneys general of Gulf coast states for input.

King called the proposed plan an illegal attempt to limit BP's liability and an effort to usurp the power of the states.

The meeting is set for July 23.
