Montgomery, AL – More than 200 people gathered across from the Alabama Supreme Court in Montgomery to protest court rulings that have shut down electronic bingo casinos around the state.
The protest Friday was organized by supporters of the Greenetrack casino in Greene County, but it drew participants from most counties where electronic bingo operations have been closed by Gov. Bob Riley's gambling task force.
Organizers say their next step is a rally Labor Day at the state Capitol to energize voters for the election Nov. 2.
A spokesman for the governor says Greene County officials should put as much energy into recruiting industry to the county as they do protesting about Greenetrack.
