Tuscaloosa, AL – Rock band Kansas is in its third decade, but that doesn't mean the group can't try something new. On Thursday, September 9, the band kicks off a collegiate symphonic tour, teaming up with college orchestras in eight cities.

Together, the band and orchestras will play some of Kansas' best-known songs, including "Carry On, Wayward Son" and "Point of Know Return." The tour is designed to raise money for college music programs, and it begins at the University of Alabama.

Phil Ehart is a founding member and drummer for Kansas. He spoke with APR Morning Edition host Brandon Hollingsworth.
