Ala. Casino Developer Wants Arrest To Determine Law

Montgomery, AL – Officials at the closed Country Crossing casino in Dothan want Gov. Bob Riley's illegal gambling task force to arrest developer Ronnie Gilley to finally determine if the casino's electronic bingo machines violated the law.

Gilley said Tuesday he's willing to be arrested to get the legal issue before a jury.

Country Crossing attorney Sam Cherry of Dothan said the casino has been closed for nine months under threat of a raid by Riley's task force. He said no court has found electronic bingo at Dothan or in other locations to be against the local law.

Task Force commander John Tyson said he would not allow Gilley to decide the task force's strategy.
