New Head of Ala. Public Safety Dept. Sworn In Today

Montgomery, AL – Veteran state trooper Lt. Col. F. A. "Bubba" Bingham is set to take the oath as the new director of the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

Gov. Bob Riley will swear-in Bingham as the newest member of his cabinet in a ceremony at 1 p.m. Friday Bingham will sign an ethics pledge that the governor requires of all his cabinet members.

Bingham is a 37-year veteran of the Department of Public Safety. He has been the agency's assistant director since March 2007.

He replaces former director Chris Murphy, who stepped down to become public safety director for the city of Montgomery.
