Montgomery, AL – Ron Sparks' latest ad pokes fun at opponent Robert Bentley for changing his name to ``Dr. Robert Bentley'' in hopes of boosting his chances of becoming governor of Alabama. Bentley says voters are more interested in jobs than jabs.
Sparks, the Democratic nominee, is running a radio ad that says his own name is simple, but it's the one his parents gave him. He says where he comes from, people don't change their name to apply for a job, even if the job is governor.
Bentley acknowledges changing his name from ``Robert Julian Bentley.'' He wanted to be listed on the ballot as ``Dr. Robert Bentley'' because that's what everyone calls him. Republican Party officials refused, and he changed his name back. He says it's absurd to be talking about his name when 200,000 Alabamians are out of work.
