Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Forestry Commission has rescinded the statewide fire alert because enough rain has fallen to reduce the threat of wildfires.
State Forester Linda Casey announced the action Friday. She said the rain combined with lower temperatures and milder conditions have provided enough moisture to justify lifting the alert.
She said the commission will keep monitoring conditions and may have to reissue the alert if conditions become exceptionally dry again.
The commission restricts permits for agricultural and forestry burning during a fire alert.
