Ala. Legislator Declines UA's Free Iron Bowl Passes

Montgomery, AL – An Alabama legislator wants his two free tickets and parking pass to the Iron Bowl given to soldiers wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan.

State Rep. Alvin Holmes, a Democrat from Montgomery, sent a letter Tuesday to the University of Alabama asking President Robert Whitt to let him know the names of the wounded soldiers getting the tickets in his place.

Holmes said he declined the tickets to the Nov. 26 Auburn-Alabama game at Tuscaloosa because the Legislature got a 62 percent pay increase in 2007 and ethics reform is to be a priority with the newly elected Legislature.
