Montgomery, AL – The former Democratic nominee for governor, Ron Sparks, says he's received encouragement to run for chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party if Chairman Joe Turnham goes ahead with plans to step down.
Sparks said he's made no decision about what he will do when he leaves the agriculture commissioner's office in January. But he would like to have a role in structuring the Alabama Democratic Party.
He said the election Nov. 2 showed that voters believe Democrats haven't been listening to them. But he says there is a future for the Democratic Party is newly elected Republicans don't live up to their campaign promises quickly.
