Montgomery, AL – Alabama state troopers made 144 drunken driving arrests and issued nearly 3,100 speeding tickets during their ``Take Back Our Highways'' safety campaign.
The campaign involved extra patrols during the busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The Department of Public Safety says troopers investigated six traffic fatalities during the long weekend. None of the six victims was wearing a seat belt and five involved alcohol.
Troopers say two fatalities occurred in Choctaw County and one each in Greene, Lee, Shelby and Mobile counties.
