New Ala. Governor Announces Inaugural Plans

Montgomery, AL – Alabama Gov.-elect Robert Bentley says his inauguration Jan. 17 in Montgomery will be a family-friendly event.

Bentley announced Friday that his inauguration will begin with a $20-per-person prayer breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church. The free inaugural parade starts at 9:45 a.m. on Montgomery's main street, Dexter Avenue. It will lead up to the inauguration on the Capitol steps at noon.

Bentley says an inaugural celebration will begin at 2 p.m. at the Montgomery Biscuits Baseball Stadium. It will include free food, music, inflatables for children, photo opportunities and remarks from Bentley. It will conclude at 5 p.m. with fireworks.

Inauguration day wraps up with a $125-per-person ball starting at 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Montgomery.
