Ala. Gets $55M Bonus From Medicaid

Montgomery, AL – The state of Alabama is getting $55 million from the federal government for its Medicaid program.

Officials say the state will receive the money as a performance bonus for its work enrolling young people in its ALL Kids health insurance program.

Only 15 states are receiving the bonus payments, and Gov. Bob Riley's office said Alabama is getting far more than any other state. The money will go into the state's operating budget.

Riley and Medicaid officials scheduled an announcement for Monday afternoon in Montgomery to discuss the program. This is the second year in a row that Alabama has received bonus money from the federal government.
